Alexandra Yangel

Alexandra Yangel, born in Moscow in 1992, first graduated with honors from the Central Music School of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2011. The lyric mezzo-soprano then studied singing with Irina Dolzhenko at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, transferred to the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien in 2013 and was a member of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now. She participated in various master classes and graduated in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in solo singing and master's degree in lied and oratorio with honors. In 2016 she was a prizewinner of the International Singing Competition of the Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinsberg and in 2019 she won the Grand Prix at the 1st International Vienna Music Competition. After two years as an ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera, where she sang the 2nd Lady (Mozart "Die Zauberflöte"), among other roles, Alexandra Yangel made her Italian debut in 2019 in the role of Waltraute (Wagner "Die Walküre") at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and interpreted Nicklausse (Offenbach "Les Contes d'Hoffmann") at the Festival Operklosterneuburg. In the course of Eötvös' world premiere "Sleepless" she was seen at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the Müpa Budapest. In 2019, she made her German stage debut as Charlotte (Massenet "Werther") at Theater Aachen.
As Lucienne in Korngold's "Die tote Stadt", Alexandra Yangel will make a guest appearance at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in the 2022/23 season.
